design resources
These resources work in tandem with REMARKABLE.
The framework’s components are signifiers of an impactful experience. This is why it can be utilized throughout the design process as a diagnostic tool.
REMARKABLE clarifies which emotional outcomes are fundamental to the success of the production’s goals; it establishes “the what.”
The Story Codex and the Immerse Up toolkit guide creative teams in their design tactics; they serve as roadmaps for “the how.”
The Story CodeX
The Story Codex is an open-access tool created by SCAD professor and former Walt Disney Imagineer Abigail Taylor-Sansom.
It’s a collaborative tool for designing, documenting, and communicating high-level narrative for immersive and interactive stories.
Designed to be equally useful for linear, branching, and open-world projects, the framework also empowers collaborators across disciplines — both writers and non-writers alike — to shape the narrative design of an experience.
The Story Codex Builder includes 21 canonical questions. The answers to those questions become the project’s “story rules” — rules that can provide guidance for the entirety of the design and production process.
Immerse Up is a toolkit by Jonny Beavan & Gary Moynihan from Immersive Creative.
It serves as a creative catalyst and is designed to empower organizations by providing them with the knowledge and confidence to develop immersive experiences that resonate with their audience.
Rather than a manual filled with answers, it operates as guiding companion. It equips users to ask the right questions and offers methods for crafting stories that move, connect, and endure.
The toolkit is organized around four foundational modules: Storytelling and Creative Vision, Audience Insights, Visitor Experience and Interactivity, and Resources.
This modular approach reflects the reality of immersive development: Projects rarely follow linear paths and creators need flexibility to address their most pressing challenges first.
